Our Story

The Center was co-founded by Dr. Anne Eglash, a family physician and pioneer in the field of breastfeeding and lactation medicine and Dr. Angela Marchant, a family physician and founder of Tallgrass Osteopathic Family Medicine, a direct primary care clinic in Madison, Wisconsin. Together they envision providing comprehensive care to families to support breast and chestfeeding as comprehensive peripartum healthcare in an accessible, creative model that meets the needs of all families. Dr. Anne Eglash and Dr. Angela Marchant are the two best resources for breastfeeding you could possibly have. My son and I really struggled with breastfeeding, and despite Herculean effort on our part, I feared we were not going to able to make it work. Dr. Eglash and Dr. Marchant completely changed things for us, and with every week in their care, we saw significant improvements. Now my son is a champ feeder, and I am confident we will be able to breastfeed for as long as we wish. Their expertise as well as compassion and empathy truly got us through a very rough postpartum period and preserved the breastfeeding experience I desperately wanted.

I only wish that we had found them sooner. We had to go through 3 months of appointments through our healthcare system with multiple other lactation consultants, who repeatedly told us nothing was wrong and several times provided misinformation, before my midwives connected us with The Midwest Center for Breastfeeding Medicine—the care team we truly needed. I’m so grateful their practice is available to parents and babies. This direct model of care will help families access the expertise, resources, and support they need to succeed right away, without having to wade through the multiple appointments, conflicting guidance, and administrative noise we experienced in our healthcare system. If you are looking for breastfeeding support, this is the place to go.”
